Jay has deep experience in making investment in consumer-internet sectors in China with specific focus on media & entertainment sector. Prior to joining eWTP Arabia Capital, Jay has invested or managed 25 startups and companies in We Capital (a Tencent-backed venture capital fund). Among the portfolios, one has already got listed, three exited with healthy cash returns and 15 have received next round of funding. For those portfolio companies, which were invested in early-stages but are still in the primary market, two have received series C or D investments, while three are valued at over one billion RMB ($140 million).
He has deep dived into several foreign markets, such as Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, India and Middle East. Along with Tencent Strategic Investment, he participated in the investment into YG Entertainment, one of the largest music entertainment companies in East Asia with Big Bang and Psy under their management. Furthermore, he has analyzed a number of consumer-internet startups in Southeast Asia and India. Some of his portfolio operated in these emerging markets as well, such as Nonolive, which was later acquired by Douyu (listed live-streaming company) with cash returns.
Jay graduated from University of International Business and Economics with bachelor’s degree. He also acquired dual master’s degrees from Peking University and Chinese University of Hong Kong.
